A Letter From Your Mayor Spring 2024

Dear Residents of Yacolt,

I hope this message finds you and your families doing well.

As your new mayor I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being a part of this community. It means a lot to be able to serve the community that I love and raise my family in.

For a quick update, we are working on multiple improvement projects throughout town this year, as well as events. Our public works department will also be looking for seasonal and part-time help over the coming months.

As the year goes on you can expect to see more events and activities being hosted by local businesses and the Town. We have heard many great suggestions about several types of events/community nights that members of the community would like to see. As a response to this we have started a new event meeting once a month on the fourth Monday at 5pm. This meeting is to allow anyone in the community who would like to offer ideas or help volunteer to get involved. My hope is that this will be an opportunity for everyone to get involved in the community and help continue to make Yacolt the special place that it is.

A few  reminders:

-The Town’s WATV law refers to 4 wheeled recreational vehicles such as atvs and side by sides. These vehicles are allowed within the Town if they are operated by a licensed driver and have the required lighting and signals. This does not cover the use of unregistered dirt bikes, which are not allowed, per State law. We know this is a tough subject for many in our community, but unfortunately multiple instances of damage to public and private property have occurred in the last few months. We just ask that everyone operates their vehicles safely around Town.

-Before building or altering structures, please check in with Town Hall to find out whether your project requires a permit.

-The planting strip located in the right-of-way adjacent to your property, along the street, is to be maintained by the abutting property owner.

A big thank you to everyone that has stepped up and volunteered their time so far, especially those who donated baskets to Easter Egg hunt this year. We couldn't do this without you:

Brad and Melissa from Impact Auto, Ro Yancey, Amboy hardware, Desiree Lorentz, John and Jordana from Stellar Luxe, North Clark Little League, Kandi Peto, Stephanie and Joshua Beck, Jeff Carothers, Kim from Inspired Learning, Kaeli and Craig Carroll, Marina and Nick Viray, Taco’s Sensacion, Fox Coffee, Arrowhead Coffee, PNW Pizza, St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church  /Knights of Columbus, Wildlife Management, Terry Gardner, Ronald Homola, Hair by Makayla, Kristin Baley, Stephanie Fields, David and Boyang Ridenour, Sarkinen Home Services.

The Town would like to pay tribute to Former Mayor James Weldon who recently passed away. Mr. Weldon was a long-time member of our community and played a big part in it over the years. James will be missed by many.

 Sincerely,                                                            -Town Council Meetings-
